biography

Photography became a major part of my life after receiving a recommendation from the BBC WILDLIFE competition back in 1994. Up to that point, even though very active, photography was only a serious hobby, not having any formal training. At this time I ran my own business designing gardens in London where I was born. The recession in the late nineties forced me into bankruptcy and also made me think of changing career. After building a portfolio the following year became an effort to find an agent to represent me in the stock photography field. Tony Stone, later to become Getty Images signed me up almost immediately. I have never looked back.

Working first on Nature themes then moving on to science and concept ideas for major clients under the Getty banner. I continue this line of work even today. Always attracted to nature I would find myself taking trips abroad purely for the landscapes, becoming absorbed by the minimalist beauty of the American south west and desert landscapes around the world. It is now that I feel I’ve come full circle back to the world of nature and recent exhibitions have proved successful. Working mainly in colour on medium format for many years I now find myself dedicated to large format Black and White photography.
